🇮🇶 Work in Iraq – ALBasra:

Foundations, Vision, and Legacy

Throughout my artistic journey, I have embraced multiple creative paths—spanning theatre, cinema, media, and cultural production. Since beginning my career in Basra, Iraq in the early 2000s, I have been driven by a passion for storytelling and a deep commitment to social and cultural engagement. Whether on stage, behind the camera, on the airwaves, or through organizing cultural events, I aim to craft experiences that speak to people, challenge perceptions, and contribute to collective memory.

With a background in Theatre Directing and years of hands-on experience in filmmaking, radio broadcasting, public relations, and civil society work, I’ve built a diverse professional identity. My work blends artistic expression with social impact, grounded in collaboration and innovation. From founding cultural organizations to mentoring young creatives, my goal has always been to amplify underrepresented voices and bring meaningful stories to life.

🎭 Theatre & Performance

I founded the Creativity Theatre Group (Masrahioun – Jama’at Al-Ibda’a), a platform for theatrical innovation. Through this group, I directed and produced several award-winning plays, such as “Genasi”, “Dark Room”, and “Khawateer Al Masrah”, many of which tackled urgent social themes through bold scenography and experimental storytelling. I also served on the administrative board of the Contemporary Theatre Group, contributing to the organization of numerous youth and anti-terrorism theatre festivals.

🎬 Cinema & Film

My cinema journey began in 2008, producing short and documentary films that gained international recognition. Notable works include “Life Is Flashe” (Best Short Film Online), “RORO” (Jury Prize, Lebanon Film Festival), and “The Filmmaker Palace – The Last Game”, a heartfelt tribute to children affected by war. I also participated in major film festivals in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Spain, and Morocco, and produced socially conscious works such as “7 Days in Lebanon” and “Goodbye Cinema Stars”.

📻 Media & Broadcasting

I was active in radio broadcasting as the founder and host of the live program “Hawa Alnas” on Sawt Al Basra Radio, where I highlighted cultural affairs, interviewed artists, and created a vital platform for public discourse. I also worked with Al-Fayhaa TV and Al-Furat Satellite Channel, contributing to various programs, commercials, and media content as an editor, assistant director, and presenter.

🏛 Cultural Organizing & Civil Society

Parallel to my artistic work, I also founded the NGO Khuta for Culture and Arts, a civil society organization that played an essential role in promoting cultural engagement. With Khuta, I co-organized numerous cultural festivals and public events in Basra, supporting local talent and creating bridges between artists, activists, and audiences.

In 2016, I established Eda’at for Media, Culture and Arts, a production company focused on video storytelling, media training, and the documentation of cultural and social life in southern Iraq. Eda’at became known for its innovative approach to visual content, especially in how it empowered young creatives through mobile videography and citizen journalism.

I also partnered with Athaer Group, a media production company I co-founded earlier, to create joint initiatives in television and short film production. Together, we developed a wide range of media projects, including advertising campaigns, radio programs, and television content aimed at raising awareness around cultural and social topics.
